This game harddddd, anyone else play it, i am really having fun with this game, last night i played till 4:00am, mi coulda even wake fi go work, so of course mi reach late, but man was it worth it ;D

I was told about this game by a guy who loves GT3. He claims that it is better than GT and I laughed at him ::)
Is it that good? I know that it has the cars, but when it comes to customization...do they at least try to be realistic? Would my engine blow if I placed too much pressure on the turbo? What about tire dynamics?
If the car crash, would it get damaged?

Well matronyx, i wouldn't compare this game to GT3, GT is a simulation game, this is more of an arcade game, while you can blow your engine if you place too much pressure on it, this is kinda rear.

This game has all kinds of races, you go underground and are competing in different local events - drag racing, circuit racing, drifting contest, powerslide contest, you name it. The more you win, the more money you get and the more your rankings go up.

With regards to customization - that is what has made this game so good, i mean there is nothing on the car that you cannot customize, from buying nitrous kits, upgrade turbos, to putting stickers on your car, painting the brake calipers, put it this way, this game is fast and furious of the video games, i really mean that there is nothing on the car that cannot be changed, putting in headers, lowering the car, changing headlights, installing neon lights, spoliers, the works.

This game is a must have for persons who want a fun car racing game with style

It's hard to schedule a MAJOR one seeing that something is already in the plans for Kingston. It's easy though to get ten people together to run Cstrike and some other games.

The network functionality of this game makes it an easy LAN favorite for lovers of driving sims, especially since it is the best driving sim out there.

The mechanics.... to die for...

Mid Night Club 2 has be seriously hit out of the water by this title.

Going back to need for speed, I am sorry to inform you guys but after several checks, i have to inform you that NFSU does not support LAN games, it does however have a Online Play mode, but lots of us are on 56k, so there goes that thought.

This i feel is a severe blow to this game, i find it to be a very fun game, but NO LAN - common EA, in this day and century

I’m somewhat disappointed in this game. I think too much emphasis was placed oh looks. You can add all sorts of body kits, colours and rims; however the technical aspects are just way off. One such example of this is the use of NOS, in a drag race, I emptied my entire supply in the one run, and my car was still kicking up. Also, when adding the various modifications, you are able to select different brands, yet they all produce the same results, then what’s the point.

My next sore point is the lack of replay and LAN capabilities. I remember playing a track once, I don’t remember the name, that had sequential downhill jumps. When I made one of the jumps I actually over took my opponent my jumping over him. Now, something like that I would like to watch a few times over.

Apart from my little peeves, its still a very fun and addictive game. I particularly enjoy playing the drifting and drag racing tracks. Lost quite a few nights sleep playing.

Yes.... and I still rate it as a tuff game. The game physics are realistic, e.g. If you use a sniper rifle, you have to judge the distance away from a target and adjust your aim (either up/down) accordingly.
Plus, a player is able to assume 3 main positions , standing, crouch, and crawl. Leaning around corners is also a plus.

I just got this game a couple hrs ago. I am hooked, the drifting is so cool, the drag race them tuff.

U have to be a good standard driver though. The drag races are so precise that an early or late gear change will almost certainly cause u to lose. The customizations are the best i have seen in a game like this. Very detailed. The races are so fast paced u will develop "Tunnel Syndrome". I hope u guys know what that is.

U will lose countless hrs playing this game, truly a classic in my opinion. Almost everything about this game is unique. The soundtrack is spectacular too. Only downfall is Lan capabilities, but its still a spectacular game, car lovers and racing lovers will be in paradise.

Most addictive racer, Midnight club 2 has nutten on this. Simply superb. I just realized how to drift properly, after a couple hrs of playing. Dont think u can finish this game in 2 days, this game requires time and alot of skill, because the aim of the game is skill points. Getting alot of skill points is key to unlocking tracks, performance kits cars etc, i have been playing for a day now and i just unlocked the integra.

Oh and by the way, this game is difficult, most times the other racers have advantages over u. Shortcuts is vital, but overall skill will win everytime.

Sad to say though, that as I was playing today, the fan on my processor decided to die after giving me maybe a year of service :( :( :( :( >:( >:( >:(

I now have to wait until Monday to go buy another cpu fan.

Nos is supposed to be used when u in atleast gear 5, it wouldnt really make sense using it in lower gears unless u r in the middle of a corner. But since drag is a straight rd, my strategy is good gear shifting and use the nos only when threatened and only if i am in 5th gear, it makes no sense otherwise.

Question though, do u use all the nos at once or in doses????

You guys need to see my 500 + hp Acura RSX, i am tearing up the track in this car, it is not a good drift vehicle though but di car hype, when i go home i will post a screenie. This game harddddddd, i had started playing Max Payne 2 and parked it for this game, right now i am sporting some 19in wheels, level 2 turbo, level 2 turbo, some serious body kits.

Bwoy mi love this game, but would really have liked a replay feature, i beat a car is a drag racing event by jumping over the top of him, that would have been cool to see in replay

Yow u reach far, I just bought an impreza 2 days ago, it hard. How will u take a screen pic? Does the print screen button work while in a game?? Well thinking about it now, it should work.

One of the tracks took me a day to win. One of the 6 lap races. Drifting is easy and should be easy with any car. It was easy with a civic and the impreza is spectacular. The drags are easy if u know the car u r using.

What difficulty level do u play on???

Drifting is easy yes, and can be done with any car, but i cannot get as much points with the RSX as i could when using the civic or the Impreza, the civic has a lot of torque in this game allowing the car to go sideways easier, and the impreza is 4wd. So while i am able to win the drift races with the RSX it just doesn't look as spectacular as with the previous cars i was using.

What is the highest drift points you have gotten from one drift, i just 25000+ and a comment "outrageous" was displayed on the screen

a 100 grand plus from one drift, i don't mean the entire track from one drift sequence, if you got a 100000 then damn, my multiplier right now is 4 and yes i love this feature, yeah i think that i am pretty good, i have always been a big racing fan, in fact i do drag my car at times and that is why i love the drag racing portion of this game the most, i mean miss two gears in a race and that is it, say good bye victory, you have to be well precise from launching off the line to your gear changes to timing the use of the nos perfectly - i love this game, can't wait to go home

The drag is the best feature i think, it gives a realistic view of the speeds at which u r going. My multiplier is at 3 and little bit.

Missing 2 gears, for me if i miss one gear its all over. I noticed also that i dont even use the nos in the drag races. I dont think its really needed.

Hmmm...you guys are right, this game IS addictive ;D
I tried it when I went home yesterday (thnx Ropy) and right away I was moding, customizing a GOLF Gti then a Lancer ES. In the end I had the level 1 turbo, drivetrain, and brakes installed. Appearing on virtual magazines is kinda cool too ;D

One of the things I'd love though is a simulation mode where your car has damage points, and the result is impeded performance for that race. I guess because this is more of a street racing environment and it's EA this was omitted. One cool thing the makers did though was take off points for hitting normal vehicles in traffic.

You get points for power sliding, drifting, hangtime, passing through certain areas of the track untouched, and leading laps.
The drag races are pretty easy to win (I play those on hard), just make sure to catch your gears "perfect" and drift behind the fastest car if youre not in the lead. Using the "b" (rear view) might also prove helpful, shows you who is trying to overtake and you don't want this to happen near the finish line ;D
Drift courses are really nice, just alternate between 2nd and 3rd gear and keep your eyes on the end of the corners, you'll know when to do reverse inertia drift (InitialD taught me this one).

It seems though that this game is more about looks than realism when it comes to customization. Hopefully EA will adress all the "cons" in another realease next year.

i got the RSX too, its top speed rating is maxed out. i too find that its not very good for the drifting courses.

i unlocked the Supra last night and tried it out on some drift tracks, man that car can oversteer, i mean the car is constantly sideways, drifting is a breeze with this car

Are u sure its 130, mine says 111. I am at 61 or 62. I am still using the rsx, it seems to be the fastest on the tracks. During the drag races u have to be great with the gear changes, and drift alot. I need to drift in order to pass the final car, if i am not in the lead.

Maybe its only me but i sometimes have to restart a drag race around 5-10 times before i can win. Missing a gear will cause me to lose and then i am always crashing into traffic. What can i do when two vehicles coming towards me in the only available 2 lanes??

The drags are getting harder and harder, i dont know how Matro plays the drags on the hard level. I am stuck with the medium level.

When matro reaches the level that I am at now, he will be playing the drag races on esay ;D, not that i do that, but yes sometimes it takes me like 15 tries to beat a drag track and when i do it is sometimes due to the other cars crashing

i too have restart sevral times. the traffic seems to always follow the same pattern. so it takes me a while to get to know what line to take. sometimes i win the drags with pure luck. sometimes i hope that the opponient crashes. in that two lan situation, you can just let some one pass u and let them hit the cars clear the way to victory ;D.

i can play the drags on hard just have to get perfect shift or even good shift, nothing less.

As regards drag, I had to cut down to medium to win the races :'( I guess less money for me.

well no cheating here, and i only play the game for about 2 hours a day, my schedule, work till 6, reach home about 7, play nba live 2004 for 2 hours (right now i am using the lakers, my record is 33 wins, 12 loses - playing on the hardest level) and then i play some nfsu for 2 hours and then go to bed - right now i have no time for my girl (sad isn't it - she soon left me backside)

Ahh cmon matro, no cheating at all. I am so glad to hear that u have to go to the medium level cause after u claim the drags were easy i was wondering if i was doing summen wrong. I think i have only won about 3 drags without having to restart the race. Traffic is a majour issue. How far u reach matro???

well in other nfs titles, u could edit the car.ini file to be able to buy the cars cheap.

Right now u can download the savegame files with all the features unlocked. Cheating in nfs isnt really cheating per say. There is no cheat to always win a race per say.

Thats y nfs games are so good. Cheating is limited. If u dont want to play through the game, u can simply download a couple finished save games from websites all over.

I am at 95 now. The race i have to do is 6 laps of racing. How can i maintain 1st place for 6 laps??? I tried about 20 times and failed everytime. I am bound to crash somewhere along the way. Traffic is a major pain. I cant drive 6 laps perfectly, and catching up to these guys when them in the lead is no walk in the park. The funny thing, traffic always causes me to lose a race on the final lap or 5th lap. This is one of the most challenging racing games i have ever played.

3. OK, no promises here, but due to the overwhelming demand for LAN play we are going to see what we can do Post-Christmas about getting something in for the PC community. Again, No promises, stay tuned.

It was ok.... as usual it takes a while to get used to the subtle track changes....after that, it's like yawn... 8)

Hey, don't get me wrong... I had to down the level of play to easy ... even then, the races were a lil tuff, especially when the other cars deliberatly try to bank you into uncoming traffic ::)

Yeah but it still took me a week, on the easy level. A fren of mne took 2 weeks, and he is good. He almost finished his cash buying different cars.

Actually tronyx, I think he took one week to finish the 112 tracks on easy.

Sad to say Nastro but it was just track 95. No other track caused me any trouble. I just couldnt maintain the lead for 6 straight laps. I always stop in the middle because the phone rings or some other crap happens.

Oh yeah, one more thing, Has anyone tried this so called lan patch?? Will users be able to use the cars from their profiles, with all the customizations???

If yes then wouldnt it be unfair for someone like me, who has finished the game and maxed out all customizations to play against someone who just reach half way through the underground mode???

Ask yourself... if you had a fully loaded GTR and some nut in a lil civic drove up to your car at a stop light... would it be fair to smoke him?

On a straight, i would more than likely blow u away, but on the corners is another story. But that all depends on the driving technique i use

Well if i am in front of u, there is no way u could pass me. Simply because i drive the drag races looking behind me, thats if there is no traffic.

I finished this game yesterday...it was ok. I think the last races were a lil easier than some of the 80-99 races. Maybe it's just me....
One thing I noticed though.... some of the magazine covers are still locked, which means to unlock those you need to build a new profile and start racing again 8)

Did anybody check out the cars that were unlocked.... they look sweet!! ::)

I just installed the Lan patch (Thanks to Ropy and Xphat)

I havent noticed anything different though, except the version of the game.

I will have to do some more looking around, I tried clicking the play online button, but i wasnt connected, so i will try later.

yo fellow techies and race heads i have been reading your progress with need for speed and im happy to tell you all that i have completed the game unlocked everything and have started over and still managed to study and get some sort of sleep in ;) and i have good news and even better news ea is currently plannig on a lan patch for underground its not finalised when it will be realease but dont call it quits yet lets wait and see if they come thru with it for the guys who said this is better than gt3 when i see you if i see you remind me to smack some sense into you ;D gt3 is in a class by itself

now back to nfs:u i have managed to take a few screen shots of my victories and my mishaps

and i have been online most of the people there are using 56k so your safe go on have fun try the ranked games youll love it

but overall this game was worth my time and energy
ask xeno i maxed out my speakers for the dag races and it sounded like the real thing the graphics are a plus the sound exelent game play wonderful on a scale of one to five i give it 4 1/2 because of the lan diabilities but hey that will "hopefully" fixed soon my favorite car is the acura rsx i call it a skyline killer

RSX is very good. But pound for pound the skyline is the best, No other comes close.

I beat NFS underground on Sunday. And i have to say 2 things
1) ma skyline sexy
and
2) race 95 was not as challenging as you guys made it to be. I got more challenge from other races both before and after that race. It nice though i can now move on to other games (Max payne 2 here i come) i still have the last 6 or so magazines left. and i guess i cant get back on those again, have to start over. But i not too sure on how to make sure i get on the magazines still.
But yeh nfs underground nice. was fun while it lasted.

I'm still at 93. Everytime I try to load it the game crash to the desktop. >:( Maybe I need to patch up.
