Google Deskbar enables you to search with Google from any application without lifting your fingers from the keyboard. Installs easily in your Windows taskbar.

Key Features:
Search using Google, even when your browser isn't running
Preview search results in a small inset window that closes automatically
Access Google from any application by typing Ctrl+Alt+G
Use keyboard shortcuts for multiple Google searches, i.e., Google News (Ctrl+N),Google Images (Ctrl+I), or Froogle (Ctrl+F)

Really cool idea by Google....
I wonder though if it will eventually become one of those memory hogs?

Impressive. I like it.
It uses about 7~MB of memory when using it, and around 400 k when it's not being used. I like. :)

That link that Arch posted doesn't seem to work. Tried doing a search for the google search bar and it keeps returning results for the Google taskbar is this the same thing you guys are referring to?

Great but why does it not have the same features as the toolbar. I like it but I don't want more than one google bar on my system!
Google should combine the toolbar features into it and you have a winner plus an option to whether URLs open in a browser or mini browser would be nice and default home page if blank field is searched a pop mail checker.

What other features do you want them to include in the google deskbar that's already in the google toolbar?
You get to search the following with the DeskBar:
Search Web
I'm Feeling Lucky
Google Images
Google Groups
Search News
Search Froogle
Search Definitions
Stock Quotes
Thesaurus
Movie Reviews
Software Downloads
Not to mention you can add your own search engine in there, if you don't want to search google.
It also allows you to open the search in a browser or use the mini-viewer instead. Just check the deskbar options.

The link works for me too. The new Google toolbar now blocks popups and is a downloadable executable file.

I been using the toolbar for a while now, and i have to say that i really really love it. It doesnt hog any memory (at least i havent noticed it doing so) and its pop up blocker is the best i have ever used. It blocks every single popup, the only time this is annoying is some pages like microsofts website have some popups that u need to see and they get blocked too.

I hope you guys realize that we are talking about the Google Deskbar, and not the Google Toolbar.
But the rest of us do share your opinions on the toolbar. It's really a must have for any browser.

::) whoops i didnt even realize that you were talking about the deskbar and not the toolbar. Well i just installed the deskbar about a week ago and i like this one also. My main problem is that its taking up space on ma taskbar, but i dont mind.
