When I was playing with the iPAQ h5555, i kept getting this message on MSN mesenger.

One of them was for sure MSN Messenger, it notifies you to immediately download an updated messenger update. However, if you follow the links provided there you get the following information:

MSN Messenger Security Update for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones

The MSN Messenger Security Update is part of Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing initiative, which aims to provide customers with improved security and greater privacy protection.

As part of this update, all .NET Messenger Service clients will be required to upgrade to compliant versions of Messenger service client software by October 15, 2003. Microsoft is developing updates for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones.

Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition updates will be available through Microsoft in early October to prevent any service disruptions. Microsoft is also working on updates for Smartphone users with its partners.

Visit this Web site in early October to download the MSN Messenger client for Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition, and to learn more about the availability of Smartphone updates from Microsoft and its partners.

So far neither for the Pocket PC platform, nor for the Smartphone platform an upgrade is available and it's 9 days till 15th only. So I truly wonder when this update will become available. Also it's a kind of irritating that a brand new, still not released device like the xda II isn't already equipped with this compliant version. I hope O2 will be able to include the new MSN Messenger version by default, otherwise it would be a bad user experience if you buy a brand new device which seems to include outdated software.

Dear Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC Customer:

As you may know, Microsoft recently announced an update to the .NET
Messenger Service, requiring that only updated clients access the
Service to help ensure that our customers have the latest security
and privacy protections. As part of this update, older .NET
Messenger Service clients, including all Windows Mobile-based
devices, are required to upgrade their MSN Messenger
Service clients.

We are writing to inform you that the MSN Messenger update for
Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs is now available. Please
download and install this update prior to October 15, 2003 in
order to prevent any service interruptions.

After October 15, customers who have not installed the updated
client will no longer be able to access the .NET Messenger Service
from their Windows Mobile-based device. Customers will still be able
to download the update after October 15, but will not have access to
the Service until the download has been completed.

Please visit our web site for additional information and updates.

Ok i just tried the agile messenger again. currently i am talking to ropy via this software on msn messnger, i can also log into yahoo messenger at the same time.

Only problem is that all my contacts status is saying offline. Small problem though. I will figure that out soon. its a very good progam. Everybody with a smartphone running the symbian os should have this. I just tried to log in from my home pc and i got a message on the phone saying Dual Login - Your msn account is being used on another computer.

How cool is that??
