Very cool product, i think the pictures u posted were seen on Sony's website a few days ago, they were placed on the website by accident. Very cool product and it seems to be where mobile phones are heading.
Soon there wont be a simple mobile phone, or simple will be a phone with bluetooth, GPRS, Infrared, Over 4 thousand colours etc.
Imagine the price range for this in ja. Guaranteed to be in the 50 gran price range. I say this because the p800 selling price is 45 gran, its currently on sale though.

tri-band or dual bands? Is there a difference between CWJ's GSM and that of Digicel's GSM?

Tri Band means the 3 gsm networks available today, Dual band is two of those networks. Dual Band is mostly used in the us and areas near ja. The third network is used mostly in Europe.
So when they say a phone is Triband it means that phone will work on any 3 of the GSM networks, and Dual band means only 2 of those networks. Very simple.
I am not sure if both C&W and Digicel are using the same gsm network, but i would think so, since the competition between the two is so great.

digicel and cable and wireless operate on different frequencies

Single Band = GSM900 (Digicel) or GSM1800 or GSM1900 (C&W)
Dual Band = GSM900/1800 on one phone
Tri-Band = GSM900/1800/1900 on one phone
GSM900/1800 is European
GSM1900 is US

Nastro, this is what u call a "status phone" and only certain people should and will ever own them.
U remember the cost of the nokia 8890 i think was the name. - The phone that had the chrome covering the keypad that slid down???

Very interesting indeed. If Sony Ericsson knows what's good for them, they'll offer the OS upgrade for free to the P800 users. The P900 has a different form factor from the P800 so there shouldn't be a conflict with launching the P900 anyway. After all, the OS version can't be all that Sony Ericsson is using to differentiate the two models.

Sonyericsson should have waited a while longer before introducing the p900, I can bet the introduction of the p900 will cause a reduction in the price of the p800. Right now digicel is having a hard time meeting the demand for the p800, can't wait to see what happens with the p900

I just got a look and feel of a new P900. SWEEEET! It's totally different from the P800 in look and feel. It has a smaller form factor and IMHO a more mature color scheme. I didn't really like the plastic looking light blue scheme with the P800.
If I were to get cussed by my wife for spending alot of money on a phone, this may very well be the one ;)

Ok then, i wouldnt buy this phone at all, and then a month later SE release an upgraded version, and then i am left in the dust. I think SE release them phones either too quickly or it was one model and the p800 was a teaser so to speak, just to see how it would be accepted.
Also the phone tuff but the user interface is not top notch. When SE phones get close to the user friendliness and simplicity of Nokia phones running the Symbian Os 6.0 then i might look in SE direction. The p900 uses Symbian 7.0 UIQ 2.0. And if u ever saw or used the symbian os on the nokia 3650 u would probably think it was a different os all together.
It will be hard to convince a nokia lover like myself to even look at a SE phone.

Hey Mitchie, I'm a Nokia lover myself. I tried many other brands but always end up settling down with a Nokia. This P900 however, is really nice in the hand :) I can't compare UI with the Nokia 3650 because I've never used one, but it's not bad at all.
The issue about SE releasing a model so soon after the P800 is valid, and is typical Sony style. If you bought Sony VAIO computers especially laptops (like I do) you go crazy. It seems like every 3 - 4 months they come out with a new model. I can understand technology changing frequently, but I mean ... ???
btw - for those of you who are interested - the P900's keypad is now electronic.
