what If there were a Jamaican search bar like the Google bar or the Yahoo bar would you use it?

this bar would provide a lot of features like.

(1) Search google, msn and Yahoo from one interface.
(2) Read the content of any website you are viewing, including emails, forums, etc...
(3) Translate any page between english, spanish, french, italian, german.
(4) Suppress those annoying popups.

Would you guys use a Jamaican bar that provided those features?

Why call it a jamaican search bar when it has nothing to do with Jamaica, apart from it being made by jamaicans? And the google search bar already does those things for me.

You wouldn't be offering anything new or different, and nothing relating to jamaica.

So I wouldn't use it.

Maybe if you offered to search jamaican related sites only, then yeah I would use it.

well I did not want to mention anything but I am trying to setup something that would allow you to listen to Jamaican radio station(s) through the bar.

tell me when google does that....

Like I said though I cant talk about that because it is not written in stone.

For it to appeal to me (as I am speaking for myself as a jamaican), the search bar would have to offer something relating to Jamaica, since you called it a Jamaican Search Bar.

Searching Jamaican Only websites as an option would be a great idea.
Allowing for me to listen to Jamaican Radio Stations, would be great too.

If you implement any of those features in the search bar I would use it.

yeah I know what you mean.
I had this deal with this guy who turned out to be an *******, he has this bob marley site he was marketing as Jamaican, it turned out he and is site was Canadian. he wanted me to remove everything else from the bar and leave only his stuff....even though I am not charging him to put his site on my bar....so I told him to piss off.

but no doubt. I am trying to get other Jamaican sites to agree but nobody seems to want to get back to me. I cant just put their site on my thing and then run into problems later. I only put Yahoo, MSN and google right now because they are Huge companies and they would not give a ****.

anyway keep the ideas coming guys.

I have and sms sender on my site that is WAY more powerful than this site, I have tried to contact the guys that run this site, I would give everything to them for FREE but they havent replied. the only thing I would want them to do is link back to my site.

Think SMS on this site was been abused,don't think admin is really interested in putting one back on the still and I wouldn't blame them.

I think your idea is a good one.

(1) Instead of making Google and Yahoo the main search engines, ensure that they remain secondary and make the Jamaica search the default engine. For any of us techies to close our eyes at google and yahoo, the Jamaican search engine has to be able to provide similar results or better; to that of the two search engine giants.

(2) Read on..................

(3) The page transaltion would be a great for our tourism industry. Travel agaents ando our own local tourist board could jin alliances with you and touorists form the Ntehrlands, Italy, France, Asia etc. can make reservations or even visit local Hotels on the inetrnet in their own languages all through Jamaica search.

(4) suppress dem indeed..........................


Listing to live audio streams would be another nice addition as many now have boradband and use superfast pcs and c0ould stay right at their desks to enjoy Irie FM etc. ;D

No I am not making a search engine, a search engine is not something small that can be done by just one guy. If you are to make a search engine that has any good use, it takes a lot of research, development and money(millions). What I am developing is a Jamaican Toolbar that plugs directly into Internet Explorer and has the capability of passing queries to yahoo, msn, and Google (if there is a Jamaican Search engine already established, then to them also).
