If you can trade in the p4 board, get a MSI kt2 combo board.
This board supports Athlon, Duron and Athlon XP processors.... it has slots for both SDRAM and DDR RAM.
This is a good all round board which you could pair with an AMD Athlon xp 2200+ proc. Intcomex sells the 2200+ proc. for about $6900.00 + tax.
A combination of this board and processor is a very good performance/value system.

Sell it...
you can get a much better athlon solution using a barton core athlon cpu plus an nvidia or via chipset.
Not to mention an Athlon is a far superior chip... ;D
More bang for you dollar too.
(Note newer athlons do not run as hot as old ones.)
If I was giving away a mother board I would give away a board that would possibly have you comming back to me for a nice expensive chip too ;D Excelent marketing tactic... J/K

Personally I agree with Gillion.... I don't even look at Intel processors anymore.
I don't know why Intel feels they have to gouge >:( the public.
Try to get that P4 board sold....Buy the board I recommended, it's pretty good stuff and it supports the Barton core Athlon chips that Gillion mentioned.

I agree with saint that the kt2 combo is a good board but it has its limitations. I would recommend that u trade it in for a kt4 ultra or a kt4v, both MSIs. They have very good overclocking potential, although not the best there is but I thing that they r the best currently available from intcomex.
I have a kt4 ultra with a 1700+ processor, currently overclocked to 2600+ with stock HSF, stock cpu and memory voltages, and i use ddr 333 memory. No overheating problems whatsoever (idle 36 deg celcius and full load 47 deg celcius). My machine has been stable as a rock for almost 5 months now. No crashes.
kt4 ultra + 1700+ == perfect combination + cheap ;D ;D

No son....I am and will forever be an avid Pentium lover/user. Just think of it as buying Toyota Corolla (AMD) or a BMW (Pentium) we are just not in their league......Yeah you will get more bang for your buck, but maybe I just like to have the best quality & reliability. I won't even bother to get started...Hey Willy take it from me if money is not a problem invest on a pentium system. You will not regret it. Personally I have seem too many fried athlons, and durons in my lifetime. I've seen guys buy amd systems with endless overheating problems...having to go from one cooling system to the other. If you want a system that is guaranteed to work and work reliably for a long time to come go with a pentium.

My current P4 System has never overheated and has run perfectly from the day it was assembled by me. I have never had any probs with it. Hey maybe amd has sorted out their cooling issues...but thats a risk I aint taking. And I think You get a longer warranty on Pentium chips as opposed to the inferior amd..... Mi know seh unno amd lovers ah guh kill mi now...but what the hell....its my opinion ;D ;D

Actually I liken buying a Pentium as opposed to AMD in the followind manner:
Pentium --> Pay $1,000,000.00 for a 1990 Lada.
AMD --> Pay $500,000.00 for a 2003 Evo.
