i wish there was a company / agency in jamaica that provided surveys and stats like this:

http://www.internetnews.com/IAR/article.php/1457991

Study: 20% of U.S. Feels Web Is 'Essential'
In a big vote of confidence for the troubled Internet media sector, 20 percent of Americans feel that the Internet is the "most essential" medium in their lives, according to new data by radio audience researcher Arbitron (Quote, Company Info) and media metrics firm Edison Media Research.

I think that STATIN would be the best organisation for a survey like this. Of course with only 2% of the 2.6M pop. having "direct access" (according to Paulwell), then the survey results would probably be trivially small :(

Is the population still 2.6Mil? Does STATIN have a website?

Although I could understand if the population isn't moving cause there are so many J'cans in the US... and elsewhere in the world...

statin is "supposed" to do that ... but check out their site ... if you find anything other than population, gnp, gdp and other financial numbers, please show me the link

maybe a private company like the Stone Poll will do such surveys and announce the findings one of these days. actually, thats the sort of info. that should be readily available every year when they have that computer society conference

Oh.. do you mean that domains with .com = commercial, for-profit organisation wheras the domains for non-commercial, non-profit organisations tend to have a .org suffix ??? ? Maybe nothing is wrong here and you're simply disillusioned ;D

Verm, I think I'm missing your point ??? Then again I may not have your discriminating eye when it comes to web sites ;) Other than the domain suffixes, I'm drawing blank.

for those interested in search engine traffic to their web sites, some big news broke yesterday. yahoo not only kept google as the source of its secondary results (back up results if no matches are in the yahoo listings), but google is now the main source of yahoo's results when you do a search.

seems to negate the need to pay $300 to get listed in yahoo and highlights the need to get your site ranking well at google.
