I did mine at Software Training Centre. The tutor was not too shabby :icon_roll , but ask about Leroy. He's a great tutor. I have no experience with any other places.

If you have the discipline, I would say do it at home. Get the book and tutorials online, practice, and then just do the test.

The fastest way is at home - if your disciplined
If your new to networking then the Network+ would be a nice introduction (especially since non-vendor specific and is a good certification to have). If you have networking experience (not just working but studies) then do CCNA from start cause the first part of the exam is an introduction thingy

It depends...I cant speak for the school mentioned above but if you have the study material you can complate A+ within 4 months.
Also I agree zRo ToLeRaNcE , if your new to Networking N+ should be a must...saves you the confusion of jumping into the CCNA...of cource it does'nt mean you have to take the N+ exam.
I went to school for my A+, and self taught on Windows XP (70-270) which got me my MCP. Problem with "home schooling"...if you dont have the discipline (easily distracted) go to school.
BTW you did not mention which parish, i know Software Training Centre is in kingston, but you have CIT here in Mobay.

would it be a good idea to study the CCNA from home or should u enroll in an institution such as CIT to do it?

You should have started this question in a new discussion.
Anyways, if you have the necessary equipment available to your (eg. CISCO routers and Switches) then you can consider doing it at home. Ensure that you have discussions with online communities such as this one request explanations when you reach a tough topic.
If you are new to Networking then I suggest that you enroll in an institution that provides training towards that certification.

Actual cisco routers and switches would be good but not necessary, virtual labs are just as effective and are alot cheaper to get.
I'm using the Boson NetSimulator and Sybex CCNA study guide 4th Ed. (5th Ed. is out, but full of little errors) to prepare for the CCNA 640-801exam.
The best advice I can share with you is create a study schedule by topic and allocate at least 1-2 hours per day to study. Reinforce what you've learned by doing as many practice exams you can get your hands on at the end of each chapter.
Great discipline and self motivation is most important and procrastination will only take you two steps back on setting the exam date.
I bought a set of 4 cds with cisco cbt nugget videos that I'm willing to share for a small fee. PM me.

PureVybz.....Mark you I clearly understand what you are saying. I myself have several types of virtual routers, and network simulators. Even more so I have both CBT and Learnkey (video) training series.
However, this is not something I would recommend to someone who has little to no networking experience. If the individual has some networking experience then by all means. Persons new to this field of IT should try to interact as much with 'live' content, senarios and examples as they can.
What you will find is that when a person who is new does self training with CISCO tracks, is that they are very limited in the work environment. This would defeat the purpose of having the certification in the first place.

Agree with you 100%

Hey Nastrodamus .
thanks for the tips. currently i am doing the CISCO it essentials course which covers a whole lot of networking fundamentals. some of these are refreshers to me as i previously obtained an Asc Deg is MIS which did cover some portions of networking, just that this one is more hands on. Also, Purevybz, i have those four cds that u talking about, just that i have not gotten around to start using them just yet though....thanx for the offer though ad the tips as well...really appreciate them.
