I'm fixing up an old system for my neighbour,I managed to install windows xp on it but it seems that the serial port for the mouse has gone bad it has no ps2 or usb port,,, it has one available pci slot,, my question is there such thing as a serial or ps2 pci card that I can get.

Another option is to go USB. Get a USB PCI card, USB mouse and keyboard.

scrap watts new off the list. worse place to get computer parts and accessories. imho

i agree with juba, if you're going to use up the last pci slot, why not get a usb card so you can install printers, scanners, along with a mouse and keyboard.

yea better u get a usb card, cuz the majority of new devices are now usb.

I was thinking of getting the usb card,, but my neighbour is a lil short on cash, so to buy the new usb card plus new mouse would be too much for her,, what's the cheapest can I get a usb mouse for anyway?
One thing i'm telling you that lil "rat" is an underrated device ,, imagine me doing all of that installation with just the keyboard!!

A usb mouse would cost between $300 - $800, depends on the brand.
