Me again...

ok....

1 - Why do most designers prefer using Macs?

- Most of the architecture of the Mac is built and dedicated to hardcore processing functions.. from process to Aqua... the built in graphic renderer. This makes doing HUGE or highly detailed graphic work a breeze.. without sluggish performance. That's why most designers prefer Mac.. they simply outperfom any windows machine up to 2 classes above them (eg. an IMac would outperform a P4) .

2 - Is it really the fastest PC?

- this was a valid question up to a few weeks ago.. when you'd really have to question and compare.. but with the advent of the g5 (http://www.apple.com/G5) there is NO QUESTION...

APPLE'S ARE THE FASTEST PERSONAL COMPUTERS IN THE WORLD!!!!!

Godkid,

We need to link. I want to set up a Samba (Linux) domain and see if we can get the Mac to join it and share files with a Windows client.

We could do stuff like create a spreadsheet in Excel for Windows, save it on the Samba server and open it up in Excel for the Mac.

You can show everyone the superior features of the Mac.

Are you based in Kingston?

I am planning to load Red Hat 9.x on one of the machines in the lab at JALUG.

I am still reading up on Samba 3.0. It has a lot of improvements over Samba 2.x.

Have you ever tried getting a Mac to join a Windows domain?

1 - sounz nice Jamrock ... but how about AFTER I complete my Apple technician training and so am much more versed on setting up AppleTalk and the rest... then there won't need to be the grayness of "did we set it up right"

2 - if I'm using my box, I'd be using Appleworks, which supports .xls ut is not excel ;) ... maybe better... maybe not

3 - I would never give up a chance to show off he Mac unless I had to ;D which I do now .. just gimme some time to get some stuff together then watch out for the REAL showing off... and I won't even need a g5!! ;D
