The installer has been giving major problems now (for me personally). But here is a link to someone else with the same problem ??? http://groups.google.com/groups?q=software+manager+mandrake&hl=en&lr=lang_e n&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&as_qdr=m6&selm=3CA4659D.6020504%40nnetscape.net& rnum=1
First the installer dumped the CDs then after I reinstalled it started giving the same problem only i could add no sources. :o So i have to rely on urpmi and I would recommend anyone to resort to the "command line" until the bug is fixed.

I haven't reported to Mandrake yet, but do you think that would help?

what are the exact problems that mandrake software installer is giving you

Here goes!:
1. Sources can't be added. This alway brings an error message.
2. Sometimes installing files are impossible because the rpms aren't listed.
3. It is noticeable that installing software with rpmdrake is slower than the command line.
4. Finally, the trigger for this problem (before I re-installed) was my trying to install a Caldera Linux CD as source. After installation? I don't know.

So, my conclustion is that Software Manager is buggy.
