Caribbean Net Talk allows people with access to ADSL to make international calls at considerably cheaper rates.
This latest telecom service is provided by JaJabber Limited, an international consortium based in Jamaica with Marketing Director Marguerite Cremin serving as one of the principals. Speaking with Caribbean Business Report this week, Miss Cremin said: "ADSL customers are now aware of voice over IP. At the moment there are 15,000 broadband customers in Jamaica and Cable&Wireless have plans to raise that to 50,000 over the next year. We will be offering unlimited calls to the UK, US and Canada for as little as US$29.95 per month and we also provide a free installation and equipment service. Here's how it works an analog telephone adapter converts voice into data and then data back into voice with landline voice quality. This equipment would normally cost around US$200 but Caribbean Net Talk is giving it to its customers free of charge. Customers have the option of taking up a US telephone number and so can benefit from their substantially cheaper rates. The US number comes at an additional cost of US$4.95 per month. Residential and business packages are on offer. The residential one-year package costs US$29.95 per month and the two-year package costs US$24.95 per month. The business package comes in at US$49.95 per month for the one-year contract and US$44.95 for the two-year contract. Payment can be made by both local and international credit cards. A technician then installs the unit within 72 hours of signing up. "There are free calls between Caribbean Net Talk customers and we will be telemarketing the product to all ADSL customers. Now that Cable&Wireless have lowered the price of their broadband packages it is the ideal opportunity for broadband customers to avail themselves of unparalleled value for international calls over the Internet. The service will first be offered in Jamaica and over the next six months we shall consider rolling out in other Caribbean islands," said Miss Cremin. Caribbean Net Talk has partnered with Viper Networks of the United States and will be open for business from Monday. http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/magazines/Business/html/20050714T230000-0500_84207_OBS_CARIBBEAN_NET_TALK__INTERNET_TELEPHONY_MADE_SIMPLE.asp |
