Cable & Wireless Jamaica's Internet mail users now have access to a range of new service features following a recent extensive upgrading of the company's Internet mail service infrastructure. Foremost among the benefits to customers is that all CWJ Internet mailboxes offer 25Mb of capacity, up from the previous standard of 10Mb.
In addition to the larger mailbox, the new service features include more flexibility in the management of email as users are now provided with more 'do-it-yourself' tools for setting the parameters of their email service. The new infrastructure also provides CWJ's Internet mail customers with enhanced anti-spam and anti-virus protection along with utilities such as messaging, scheduling, online discussion forums and the freedom to access mailboxes using Microsoft Outlook, Webmail and other popular interfaces. Other enhanced service features include faster message downloads and an indicator as to the length of time it will take to download incoming messages. According to Cable & Wireless' IP and Data Provisioning Manager Morris Cross, the company is '… working to develop additional products and services so customers can look out for even more exciting innovations in the very near future.' Hinting at some of what was on the horizon, Mr. Cross says customers will soon be able to sign up for mailboxes of larger capacity, for a nominal fee. In overhauling its Internet mail infrastructure CWJ employed the best in class, and worked with Fujitsu-ICL, Stalker and US Interactive -- renowned international suppliers of leading edge hardware and software applications. |
