"There is no question that one of the emerging technologies offering opportiunities is wireless (technology).  Either for expanding the reach of your organisation and in saving costs," said Mike duQuesnay, chief executive officer of the Central Information Technology Office (CITO).

Under the theme 'demystifying the technology for decision makers' this year's summit will address wireless security, one of the areas of interest among senior executives, according to duQuesnay.

CITO says that the conference will be split into three main areas including:

• Technologies (eg infrared, wireless LAN, microwave, WiFi)
• The standards (eg 3G, CDMA/TDMA, 802.11, Bluetooth, GSM)
• The applications and services .  New opportunities for business

Business concerns

• Security
• Continuity
• Skills and resources required
• National and regional harmonisation
• The next wave of convergence Practical applications to meet business needs
• Multi-services over same medium
• Videoconferencing: same device, many uses
• Broadcasting and media

The presentations will be in two streams - one for executives, and the other for chief information officers.
