C&WJ increases Gotel charges |

Cable and Wireless Jamaica (C&WJ) has increased its call charges to its prepaid mobile customers for calling Gotel numbers. The new per minute rate is $13, up from $10, C&WJ stated in a release yesterday.
The increase follows a 1400 per cent increase in incoming termination rates for calls made to Gotel numbers, instituted by Gotel from August 1, 2004, C&WJ stated.
"Regrettably, our company has been forced to increase our charges to our prepaid customers," according to C&WJ's senior vice-president for Mobile, Ian Neita. "If we maintained the previous rate we would not have been able to recover the cost of the new termination rate plus the costs associated with handling the calls over our network."
