Cable & Wireless’ bmobile customers attending this summer’s Olympic Games will be able to keep in touch with home using their GSM handsets thanks to the signing of a bilateral roaming agreement between Cable & Wireless and roaming partner, Cosmote in Greece. This agreement also allows Cosmote customers in Greece to roam on the Cable & Wireless network in Jamaica.
The addition of Greece to the number of bmobile roaming destinations follows closely on similar agreements with The Bahamas, Colombia, Spain, Austria and Turkey. This brings to 38 the number of major travel destinations across North and South America, Europe and the Caribbean in which Cable & Wireless’ bmobile customers can roam, either on GSM or TDMA. At the same time, Cable & Wireless’ bmobile customers can now enjoy GPRS roaming in two new destinations – Canada and Guernsey. The provider in Canada is Microcell and in Guernsey, C & W Guernsey.
GPRS roaming, which allows bmobile customers to access the Internet and data services from compatible handsets, laptop computers and the soon to be introduced BlackBerry wireless handheld device, is also available in the United States and the United Kingdom in areas served by T-Mobile, and in Barbados and Cayman. |
