Several popular Jamaican websites including the Jamaica Observer (www.jamaicaobserver.com) and the Office of the Registrar of Companies (www.orcjamaica.com) were defaced by unknown hackers late Sunday night and most remained in this state until Monday morning.
The discovery was made by the administrators of Top5Jamaica.com (www.top5jamaica.com) during their routine directory cleaning exercise. It was initially discovered that jarealty.com was defaced and subsequent investigations by us revealed that jamaicaobserver.com also fell prey to the hackers.
The list of victim websites reads like the who's who of local websites, including JIS (www.jis.gov.jm), PIOJ (www.pioj.gov.jm) and TPDCo (www.tpdco.org).
