Cable and Wireless Jamaica Limited land-line customers will begin paying more for some services as of today.
However, other land line services will cost less as Cable and Wireless continues its re-balancing programme started more than a year ago.
Under the re-balancing, Cable and Wireless is seeking to change the system where its earnings from international calls subsidise its local service which it claims is priced well below cost.
Among the charges to be increased are the cost for the monthly rental of business and residential lines.
Cable and Wireless land line customers will also start paying more for inter-parish weekend rates, directory enquiries and call waiting.
Intra-parish, or long distance local calls, will now cost 60-cents a minute an increase of eight cents on weekdays and 46 cents per minute on weekends.
However it will cost less to call other countries.
The price of direct dialled calls will come down by five percent to 15-dollars 75-cents a minute.
This will not apply to Cuba where calls will continue to cost 66-dollars a minute.
Operated assisted calls overseas will also cost less under the new pricing regime.
