Cable & Wireless is moving to enhance its mobile handset repair service as part of a comprehensive overhaul of our mobile operations. The company already boasts a highly successful handset repair service, which can return as many as 150 repaired phones to service each day.
The enhancements, to be introduced by mid-November, include guaranteed turn around times for reparable units, and an increase in the number of locations islandwide which will serve as drop off/collection points. Customers leaving handsets for repairs will be provided with a substitute phone and a stepped-up programme of phone care advisories for customers will also begin shortly.
At the same time the company is upgrading and enhancing its repair centres in Kingston and Montego Bay with additional state-of-the-art equipment for handset diagnostics and repair. These centres will be manned by technicians who recently completed advanced training delivered by leading handset manufacturers.
In addition, a programme to sensitize mobile users on steps to take to ensure that their handsets function optimally will begin shortly. This programme will include the sending of brief text messages, and the use of other media, including in-store posters, to advise customers on the care of their handsets.
According to Anthony Smith, Head of Mobile Operations at Cable & Wireless, 'We already run the most efficient handset repair operation in the business in Jamaica and the improvements planned will extend our advantage over our rivals. We also have the flexibility to increase the output of repaired phones at very short notice, if ever the need should arise.' |
