Cable & Wireless Jamaica has been chosen as the primary supplier of all telecommunications services for Scotiabank Jamaica in a deal worth more than $400-million over the next five years.

The systems, products and services to be supplied under the contract will provide Scotiabank with the telecoms platform necessary to make a quantum leap in service delivery and improved efficiencies.

The Scotiabank group solicited proposals from several leading solutions providers and major telecommunications companies in Jamaica to meet very specific objectives, which included:

1) Lowering the bank’s operating expenses
2) Improving the internal and external communication processes
3) Enhancing the bank’s customer service capabilities

Cable & Wireless, partnering with international business solutions provider, Avaya, won the bid by fulfilling all the criteria requested by the Bank.  The solution, which will involve a managed migration to IP, will replace the Bank’s existing telephony infrastructure; adding efficiency, state-of-the-art technological advancements and enhanced user capabilities.

In essence, the Cable & Wireless Jamaica solution for Scotiabank will be the platform from which the Bank will effectively offer its external clients an enhanced customer experience through intelligent communications and will further add improved branch collaboration and productivity to the Bank’s extensive employee base.

At the award of the contract, Scotiabank Managing Director, William Clarke, said, “Scotiabank is the leading financial services provider in the Caribbean and we are committed to giving the very best to our customers.  We went through a very rigorous selection process and our final decision was based on C&WJ’s ability to provide us with a full-service package that delivers significant savings to the bank and ideally meets our functional communication needs.”

C&WJ President and CEO, Phil Green, said, “In a increasingly competitive market, Cable & Wireless, Jamaica’s aim is to provide superior products and unparalleled service to our clients. We are excited to partner with Scotiabank in this major initiative.”

By providing next generation applications, Cable & Wireless Jamaica will equip Scotiabank to move into the future with a robust telecommunications infrastructure and cutting-edge technological solutions.
