An intervention by Prime Minister Bruce Golding has resulted in the Mary’s Child home for girls, receiving 10 new top-of-the-line computers from Cable & Wireless Jamaica (C&WJ).
The Home, which is operated by the Mustard Seed Community, provides care, counseling and tutoring for young girls who have to leave school due to pregnancy. When the Prime Minister visited the facility recently and discovered that none of their computers were functioning, he pledged to reach out to Corporate Jamaica for assistance. C&WJ agreed to provide the computers and a happy coincidence is that the Company was already providing free broadband internet service for Mary’s Child through the Cable & Wireless Jamaica Foundation (CWJF). The new computers were handed over on April 15 by Prime Minister Golding and C&WJ’s President & CEO, Phil Green during a brief ceremony at the Home which is located on North Street in Kingston. The machines were installed and networked by C&WJ and are now up and running. |
