The Cable & Wireless Jamaica Foundation (CWJF) has provided 520 computers for 52 educational institutions across the island over the past 12 months as the organisation accelerates its 'Computers For Schools' programme.
Under the initiative, which is being implemented in collaboration with Teens 4 Technology, the CWJF will be equipping 108 schools with 10 computers each and high-speed internet, wherever the service is available. As the programme nears its half-way point, schools in every parish have benefited, including several institutions in inner-city areas and rural communities. The CWJF has spent approximately $4.5 million. Established with a mandate to significantly increase access to information and communication technology among young Jamaicans, the foundation is focusing on the nation's schools as a strategic area for intervention. article link |
