Cable & Wireless Jamaica’s bmobile has scored another first in the local cellular industry with its new-to-market “Blingback Tunes” -- a service that allows customers to replace the traditional “ring” that their callers hear with a musical selection.

Customers can choose from more than 200 songs spanning several popular music genres including Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Soca and Gospel.  Available selections include tunes from a number of popular local entertainers including Shaggy, Sean Paul and Taurus Riley as well as original recordings from Prodigal, Beenie Man, Busy Signal Voicemail and Bounty Killer and many others.

In addition, customers can select songs for particular individuals or groups and even chose a ‘Blingback Tune’ for a specific timeframe or dates such as birthdays, holidays or anniversaries.

Each customer’s selections will be heard by all incoming callers -- whether the calls originate in Jamaica or overseas, while their callers wait for the phone to be answered.

“With ‘Blingback Tunes’ bmobile is offering a new and exciting way for people to use their phones to make a personal statement,” Mark Brunwin, C&WJ’s Senior Vice President Mobile Services said.  “We think it’s going to be immensely popular because Jamaican consumers always want to be on the cutting edge of mobile technology.”

Describing the service Mr. Brunwin said, “it allows people to share their favourite music, send a message or even convey their mood to their callers who will surely enjoy hearing something novel instead of the same old boring ringing tone,” he added.

C&WJ anticipates that the product will also be a winner with corporate customers, entrepreneurs and other business interests who can utilise the facility to advertise products and services as well as communicate with potential customers.

In keeping with bmobile’s drive to offer cutting edge services at affordable rates, the introductory monthly subscription charge for ‘Blingback Tunes’ is only J$75 plus customers will have to pay J$130 for individual tunes.  Once a song has been purchased, customers have the right to use it as a ‘Blingback Tune’ for a year.

With ‘Blingback Tunes’ bmobile has now joined the ranks of Verizon, T-mobile and other major carriers who offer this feature in the US, UK and Asian markets where the service is very popular.

“The mobile industry is all about innovation.  Ring tones really caught the imagination of mobile users when they first came out, and now ‘Blingback Tunes’ are sure to be just as popular,” Mr. Brunwin said.

He added, “bmobile is proud to be the first to bring this service to Jamaica and now, in addition to offering the most affordable rates and calling plans, we are using innovation to differentiate ourselves from other providers.”

To subscribe to the service interested persons can call or text ‘help’ to 444-4288 from their bmobile phone.
