C&W Jamaica Unveils Broadband Telephone System for Business PDF Print E-mail

Small, medium and large businesses across Jamaica will soon have an efficient and economical means of managing their telephony systems, particularly across multiple locations, with the launch of Cable & Wireless Jamaica’s (C&WJ) Broadband Telephone System for Business.

The new service, which is being offered by C&WJ’s Business Solutions Division, has all the features and capabilities of a traditional PBX voice system including call transfer, call forwarding, voicemail and extension-to-extension dialing, as well as several other new and exciting features.

Customers will also be able to enjoy state-of-the-art features like unified messaging that collects all voice, email and fax messages from personal computers, phones or hand-held devices and stores them at a single convenient access point.

In addition, the Broadband Telephone System will allow businesses to link their office communication system across multiple locations, with minimal premises-based equipment.  The service is also designed to minimise downtime for clients as the system will be managed from a centralized platform, virtually eliminating the need for technicians to visit customer premises to make upgrades and repairs.

An additional benefit is the service’s disaster recovery feature that enables organisations to maintain their telephone services in the event of any kind of displacement by re-routing calls to an alternative location or to any device, including a fixed line, mobile phone or a PC-based ‘softphone’.

C&WJ’s Vice President Business Solutions, Lloyd Distant has described the new service as a “breakthrough” for the local business sector.

“Our new voice solution can be integrated with existing telephony systems to provide enhanced communication and collaboration tools, while preserving a company’s investment in existing infrastructure,” he explained.

He added: “We can also connect multiple offices, allowing communications to take place more seamlessly and enable remote working by giving off-site employees the access to the same strategic tools they would have at the corporate office.”
