Cable & Wireless Jamaica, (CWJ) through its new Business Solutions Division, is a major sponsor of the Central Information Technology Office's (CITO) 4th Annual Regional Summit, scheduled to run from Wednesday May 9 to Friday May 11, 2007 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.

CWJ has provided more than $340,000 for the staging of the Summit, which is an initiative of the Ministry of Industry, Technology, Energy and Commerce, through the CITO, its information technology consulting agency.

The Summit, which is being held under the theme, "E-trade Limitless Growth Opportunities - Are You Prepared?"  Will examine opportunities for organizations to operate more efficiently and profitably by taking advantage of the new business methodologies.

The agenda will also explore steps for creating an enabling environment for developing successful e-trading enterprises, the requirements for operational readiness for e-trade ventures, as well as opportunities and keys to business success in niche markets.

CWJ, the Country's only full service telecommunication provider, will use the CITO Regional Summit to showcase its cutting edge business solutions such as its Metronet and Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, its Data Connectivity Solutions as well as its eLearning and Data Hosting Services.

"Cable & Wireless Jamaica (CWJ) fully supports the Government's efforts to utilize Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to make it easier and more convenient for the public to access the services of government agencies and ministries and to carry out transactions," Lloyd Distant Jr, CWJ's Vice President, Business Solutions said.

"The benefits of an E-enabled government are limitless - faster access to information, cost reduction, increased productivity and more efficient service delivery - are some of the major ones," he added.

In addition to facilitating the national development agenda through the provision of telecommunications services, Mr. Distant stressed that CWJ also remains committed to the advancement of the country's Business Sector.

"We will continue developing and utilizing next generation business solutions to provide tailor-made solutions for individual businesses and to ensure that Jamaica remains competitive in the global marketplace," he said.
