Utech, Illuminat sign co-operative education agreement |

The School of Computing and Information Technology at the University of Technology (UTech) and Illuminat (Jamaica) Limited last Monday inked a deal to establish a framework of co-operation between them, and establish mutually beneficial programmes and projects.
Under the agreement, students from the School of Computing and Information Technology will be provided with an opportunity to complement their formal education with practical, 'hands on' career-related co-operative education. Professor Errol Morrison, president of Utech, emphasised the value of a co-operative education programme that gives students the chance to form a realistic picture of the working world, while obtaining valuable work experience. It is also anticipated that the relationship between the school and the information, communication and technology company will strengthen opportunities for mentorship, curriculum development and staff development. Participating students will each earn 15 credits towards the attainment of their degrees, following successful completion of the co-operative education placement. The agreement was signed by Morrison on behalf of Utech, and by Norris Taylor, chief Executive officer for Illuminat. article link |
