Pathway Technologies limited has been placed in the hands of Pricewaterhouse Coopers receiver John Lee after discussions with the major shareholders and the National Investment Bank of Jamaica, NIBJ.
According to NIBJ's president Rex James, the failure of so many INTEC funded IT companies is unfortunate, but should be seen as an opportunity to attract a second wave of investment by stronger, more experienced and well established operators.
According to the NIBJ, several entities have already expressed an interest in taking over Pathway's operations and the Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with one them.
The new investors will commence their due diligence before the end of this month and operations are expected to resume by the end of this quarter.
Pathway Technologies ceased operations in September last year after experiencing difficulties collecting revenues from several international customers.
The centre began operations in February 2002 and employed some 220 workers.
