C&W Investing J$250M in "Push Talk" Service PDF Print E-mail

Cable & Wireless Jamaica is investing just under J$250-million in "Push Talk", its soon to be launched Push to Talk (PTT) service to be offered under its bmobile brand.

The company's President & CEO Rodney Davis, made the announcement this morning as he addressed a media briefing at the Head Office of Guardsman Group Limited in St. Andrew.  Initially, the Guardsman Group will be a primary re-seller of the service on behalf of bmobile.

Mr. Davis said the investment being made in the PTT service was yet another indication of his company's commitment to use technology to deliver the right products in the right way at the right time for its customers.

The launch of bmobile's "Push Talk", Mr. Davis said, was driven by the company's promise to ensure that its products and services provide greater utility for customers in the conduct of their business and personal communication.

'We are listening to our customers and responding to them by meeting their expressed needs with communication services that add value to their bottom line while delivering distinct competitive advantages', the C&W CEO said.

"Push Talk" will offer distinct advantages in comparison to similar services that are currently available on the market.  Among these advantages is the fact that "Push Talk" can be a distinct offering not tied to any other service offered by bmobile.

"Push Talk" will also allow customers to have as many as 150 contacts on their PTT list, compared to the under 100 allowed by some providers already in the market.

Additionally, "Push Talk" users will be able to make calls islandwide from the same handset they use for regular mobile voice calls using the same 10-digit number for both services.  However, PTT calls will not be charged to customers' voice call accounts.

Bmobile will offer PTT service on prepaid or postpaid plans and the service can be tailored for any size group while still providing efficiency, real time accountability and cost control in communication costs.  Bmobile's PTT service will be of significant value to the providers of security services, the hospitality industry, transportation and distribution providers, field sales and technical services providers, health care and manufacturing industries as well as the public sector.

In explaining the partnership between bmobile and the Guardsman Group Mr. Davis said: 'As the largest private security provider in the English-speaking Caribbean … the Guardsman Group knows the value of a reliable, resilient service partner that delivers value for money.  Their business depends on such partnerships.  The fact that the Guardsman Group has chosen bmobile's PTT service to add to the range of integrated telecommunication services they already use from Cable & Wireless is a strong endorsement of the value we deliver in enhancing their services in the particularly sensitive area of security.'

Initially, the Guardsman Group will work along with the Cable & Wireless Corporate Sales Team, as the primary re-seller of bmobile's PTT service.
