We write in response to the letter from Island Networks posted on your website on Friday, September 29, in regard to the launch of Cable & Wireless' MPLS Regional network.
The letter suggests that Cable & Wireless deliberately or inadvertently laid claim to introducing MPLS technology to the Region.
Cable & Wireless has done no such thing. Our media release, issued at the launch in Jamaica on September 26 quotes Chris Hetherington, CEO Cable & Wireless America's & the Caribbean, verbatim, saying:" We are extremely proud to the first company to offer a comprehensive MPLS network in the Caribbean". (my emphasis) In addition, Cable & Wireless has the only network that can offer Quality Of Service guarantees on a multi-layered platform between the countries in which Cable & Wireless operates. And finally, our network is the only one with nodes (points of entry) in several of the countries we serve and in the US, with resultant connectivity to the rest of the world.
We hope this clarifies any incorrect conclusion that anyone may have drawn from the report posted on your website. I am Errol K. Miller Vice President, Corporate Communications & Corporate Affairs Cable & Wireless Jamaica |
