MiPhone, Jamaica's exclusive CDMA mobile provider and Flow, the first broadband player in the Jamaican telecommunications market have partnered to provide Jamaica's first mobile to landline FREE services. Effective today, September 27 2006 all Flow customers will be able to call MiPhone customers FREE of cost, while MiPhone customers on Worldphone and MiCircle plans will be able to call FREE to Flow customers.
The new service heralds the era of true value added telecommunications packages for both consumer and businesses alike. The group calling plan concept, introduced and made popular by MiPhone over a year ago, captured the attention of families and small businesses because of the 'unlimited talk' for a low monthly fee benefit. Now Flow in partnership with MiPhone has further revolutionized the telecommunications marketplace. Free calls between MiPhone mobile and Flow landlines will now allow consumers and businesses to realize significant savings on their respective phone plans.
Colin Webster, Chief Operating Officer of MiPhone said of the new service "This arrangement is historic. Not only because it sets the bar at a new level of customer value from telecommunication service providers, but I also believe it is the first of many such arrangements to come in the local arena. We are happy that Flow and MiPhone have led the way".
Flow's Director of Marketing, Jean McPherson, added, "Flow believes that local voice services should be based on a subscription model versus a usage based model. That is customers should not be required to pay to call their neighbour across the street. We are happy to join MiPhone in this initiative that will realize free calling across networks and move Jamaica one step closer to a subscription model".
The new service will be available in the first instance for a 6 month promotional period. During this time MiPhone and Flow customers will instantly qualify for these free calls, and stand to benefit even further with special coupon offers. All active MiPhone customers will receive a Flow coupon which will qualify them for free Flow installation on their Flow landline services and the first month access fee free of charge for the period September 2006 to February 2007. During the same period Flow customers will receive MiPhone coupons which will give them a $2500 discount off any MiPhone handset of their choice.
Flow continues to roll out services in the Kingston Metropolitan Area, with broadband Internet and voice services already in areas such as New Kingston, Trafalgar Park, Chambers Lane, Beverly Hills, Long Mountain, sections of Grants Pen, Barbican, Mona and Cherry Gardens (including Aylsham Heights). Customers in these areas can expect value beyond that which exists in the marketplace.
