The Cable & Wireless Jamaica Foundation last week donated three computers to recent the Hope Bay Primary School in west Portland.
Sophia Maragh, Cable & Wireless Jamaica's Dealer Relations Executive for North East Jamaica, handed over the computers on behalf of the Foundation to Yvonne Lindo, Principal of Hope Bay Primary. Two of the units have been earmarked for the school's library while the third will be used to assist with administration.
In accepting the gift, Principal Lindo expressed the gratitude of the entire school and said the computers would go a far way in improving the efficiency of administration and more importantly, providing students with an opportunity to be introduced to information technology to help in their learning and developing research skills.
One of the mandates of the Cable & Wireless Jamaica Foundation is to be a driving force in helping to bridge the so-called "digital divide" and, in the two years since its inception, the Foundation has donated hundreds of new and refurbished computers to schools and facilitated the purchase of top-of-the-line computers for various educational institutions at subsidized prices.
Last Saturday's presentation coincided with a community sales promotion which marked the commissioning of a new bmobile cell site in Hope Bay. |
