Cable & Wireless' bmobile prepaid customers can now enjoy roaming service in the USA and Trinidad and Tobago.

The launch of the expanded roaming service coincides with the roll out of bmobile's new roaming rates, which start as low as 25 US cents per minute.  Both postpaid and prepaid customers now have simple price plans for making and receiving calls between all bmobile countries in the Caribbean, and on the T-Mobile network in the USA.  The straightforward pricing structure enables travellers to anticipate the cost of communicating whilst abroad.

To receive calls while roaming in the US or make calls within the country, bmobile's prepaid customers will pay US $0.75 and calls from the US to Jamaica or any other Caribbean country where bmobile operates cost US $1.35 per minute.  To call the rest of the world from the US the cost is US $6.00 per minute.  In all of these countries outgoing text messages cost US $0.35 to send and incoming messages are free.  In addition, all calls attract a connection fee of US $0.25.

In Trinidad and Tobago incoming calls, calls within the country and calls to Jamaica cost US $0.25 per minute, calls to the US or Canada cost US$3.00 per minute and calls to the rest of the world cost US $5.00 per minute.  The cost of sending a text message is US $0.20 while incoming text messages are free. All bmobile prepaid customers will automatically have access to the new rates.  In addition, prepaid customers can top-up while roaming in the twelve Caribbean territories where Cable & Wireless offers service."This is an exciting development because we know our prepaid customers were very keen to be able to make calls from the States, and beyond and now we have given our customers what they've told us they want," explained Paul Hamburger, Chief Commercial Officer, Cable & Wireless Americas & Caribbean. He added, "Our customers have also told us that while our roaming service is useful for keeping in touch with family, friends and colleagues, they were concerned by the confusing costs.  Our new price structure is simpler and easier to understand."

bMobile's prepaid global roaming footprint will expand in the coming months with new coverage areas in the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, India and beyond.  Customers using bmobile postpaid voice service can roam to over 80 countries, on over 100 networks worldwide.
