C&W launches 10/8 challenge to all mobile customers PDF Print E-mail

Cable & Wireless is throwing down the gauntlet, daring customers on other networks to take the "10/8 Challenge" and prove for themselves that on bmobile's "10/8 Anyone Plan" their credit lasts longer--- thereby offering the best value for money in the mobile market.

The "10/8" rate which was introduced to the market in September last year, offers the lowest cross mobile network calling rate available in Jamaica -- $10 per minute during peak time and $8 per minute in off-peak hours.  The simple, easy to remember rate applies to calls from bmobile to any mobile network in the country as well as to CWJ fixed lines.

Consumer response to the "10/8" rate since its inception has been spectacular, triggering massive increases in daily sales rates and a significant increase in the average revenue from each unit.  "So far almost 200,000 Jamaicans have signed up for our "10/8" rate and all indications are that they're extremely satisfied with the service and the savings," said Rodney Davis, CWJ's President and CEO.

He added, "Based on our statistics, customers who have chosen the "Anyone Plan" have shown significant increases in call volumes.  We attribute this to the better value proposition with the 10/8 plan".

Echoing the sentiments he expressed at the launch of the 10/8 plan last September, Mr. Davis said: "Anyone who takes the "10/8" challenge will clearly see the savings.  I still can't see why anyone would choose any other plan."

The 10/8 Challenge is a direct challenge to customers to see for themselves if they too can save by switching.  The Challenge compares customer usage on bmobile to other network prepaid plans given comparable credit denominations.

"A customer on bmobile's "10/8" plan can get as much as 77% more talk time calling someone on another network than someone using one of the other service providers to make a cross network call of similar length," explains David Reavley, CWJ's Senior Vice President Mobile.

Mr. Reavley also pointed out that since the "10/8" rate applies across the board it effectively eliminates the need to carry more than one phone.  "On this plan customers can call across networks with no worries that they will pay higher rates for the privilege" he said.
