CDA launches 'child-friendly' website PDF Print E-mail

The Child Development Agency launched its website Friday, saying the portal opens new communication channels and offers a window for information that should help foster sensitivity of children's rights.

"The convention on the rights of the child provide that children must have access to information that concerns their welfare," said CDA executive director Alison Anderson.

"I hope one of the things that come out of the website is that society will become more aware of the rights of the children."  The new website - www.cda.gov.jm - was developed over five months by Chrysalis Communications.

It will feature CDA news, highlighting issues of public interest; information about the agency; application procedures and requirements for fostering children.

George Bowes, systems administrator for Chrysalis, says the site was designed to be user-friendly as well as child-friendly.

"We have more than 12 pages on the site currently," said Bowes.

"We have a page for games - educational games that will encourage our children to read."
