HEART Trust partners with Birdseye to improve education offerings in Trelawny PDF Print E-mail

HEART Trust/NTA has partnered with Birdseye Institute, a technology training institute opened in Falmouth recently, to enhance their education offerings.

"We have just signed an agreement with Birdseye Institute where we will be certifying their trainees in information technology at HEART.  We will also be assisting Birdseye Institute to reach the standard that they can also certify their own trainees," Maxine Chambers, the manager of the Falmouth branch of the HEART Trust/NTA, told the Observer on Saturday.

She anticipated that the training offered by Birdseye would prepare its students for the workforce.

"It is hoped that once these trainees are certified they will take their place in the world of work," she said.

Oliver Huie, CEO of Birdseye, added that the establishment of the facility was timely as it would prepare people to fill the positions that are expected to be created from the developments announced for the parish.

"The main reason why we need this institute here in Trelawny is that there will be four major hotel developments and also a stadium within the next year or two, and people need to be trained so they can be able to fill these jobs that will be available as a result of these opportunities," he said.

The new facility is located along Duke Street in the Trelawny capital and will offer a range of courses.  They include basic computing, Internet use, computer assembling, A-plus certification, Network-plus certification, and Microsoft Office.
