For less than US$1 a day (JA $1,575 per month), Cable & Wireless Jamaica's broadband customers can now enjoy unlimited calls to the USA, Canada, the UK (fixed lines) and five other countries with the launch of the Company's VOIP offering, branded NetSpeak.
In addition to the basic NetSpeak package, customers can choose from a number of cost effective, add-on options to enjoy low cost international calling rates to other geographic locations. In launching the new service today, Cable & Wireless Jamaica's President and CEO Rodney Davis described it as "another barrier-breaking initiative which will provide our customers with another truly viable and economic way to communicate as the NetSpeak rates are extremely competitive." The CWJ President said that he anticipates that "NetSpeak" will become immensely popular with broadband Internet subscribers, for long distance calling. The other add-on options include packages which offer unlimited calling to 31 other countries and bundled minutes to C&W Caribbean Islands, India and Germany. In addition, customers get an overseas telephone number to make it more economical for overseas contacts to stay in touch. Customers will also be able to choose from a range of features including call waiting, call forwarding, caller ID and a special voice mail service which allows messages to be downloaded from a website or emailed to users. There is a one-time activation charge of JA $2,499 for NetSpeak. The CWJ President said that the introduction of NetSpeak is the latest in a series of strategic moves being made by CWJ to offer its customers cost effective options for communication. In July, the Company slashed its prices for broadband Internet and last month it introduced it's "Anyone Plan" for mobile subscribes which offers the lowest cross network calling rate in Jamaica. "All of us at Cable & Wireless are truly excited about being able to offer this product to the local market and we have no doubt that our customers are going to respond positively," he said. The CWJ CEO concluded: "the new Cable & Wireless intends to be the market leader in every area in which it competes. I suggest to you that this is another clear demonstration of that intention." |
