Some 22 experts in information and communication technology from the USA, Canada, the UK, Asia and Jamaica will make presentations at the Jamaica Computer Society annual forum at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Montego Bay on Friday and Saturday.
The BIZTECH forum 2005 promises to introduce technical personnel and a range of end users to the latest available technologies to enhance their business processes. Errol Anderson, chairman of the planning committee says the forum will help participants implement systems that are most appropriate and can help them achieve their goals. Among the speakers is Rodney Davis, CEO of Cable & Wireless Jamaica. He will speak at the opening plenary session and will address the issue: "Service delivery technologies: the future is now!" Gordon (Chris) Reckord, the CEO of Innovative Corporate Solutions will make a presentation on "storage, information retrieval and recovering from a disaster: tying it all together." The forum organisers say that Reckord will introduce participants to business continuity management - a holistic management process that identifies the possible threats to the business and provides a framework for building resilience and effective response to ensure business survival. The presentation on disaster recovery planning "will bring a practical, no-nonsense approach to formulating an action plan that reflects what you have determined that you need to do for your company," Reckord says. Among the other areas to be addressed: . "Effective e-governance framework - the key to enhanced e-government services" - to be presented by Michael duQuesnay, chief executive officer in the government's Central Information Technology. . "ASP is dead; long live ASP!" - a presentation by Ranjit Prithiviraj, chief operating officer of Intelligroup Asia - which will provide information to chart the boom, bust and resurgence of the ASP model and provide practical advice on when and how to use it. . "Model-driven software development: implications for practitioners" - to be presented by Robert France, a full professor in the Department of Computer Science at Colorado State University and an adjunct professor at the University of Technology, Jamaica. . "Managing a VoIP Network" - to be presented by James Leggett of the software company Viola Networks in the USA.
