Billed as "credit pon di corner," the service allows customers to top-up from a designated Street FLEX Vendor or Digicel Dealer Store, without the use of a FLEXcard.

Digicel's recharge manager, Trevor Wright, stated that as of yesterday the new service will be available in select Digicel dealership stores islandwide.  "However, during the course of next week, you will be able to access streetFLEX from designated vendors on the streets."

Mr. Wright explained how the system works: "Vendors will be selling streetFLEX islandwide.  They will be easily identified with the streetFLEX logo.  Simply pay the vendor for the value of credit that is required and the credit is sent directly to your phone."

Some of the additional benefits of streetFLEX include its built-in, natural security features.  "StreetFLEX vendors will not have to worry about the theft of phone cards.  Digicel is the first to introduce such an innovation to Jamaica's telecommunications industry," said Trevor Wright.

"This product will also provide an additional mode of earning a living, to many under-employed and under-employed Jamaicans".
