Anbell Telecommunications on the move PDF Print E-mail

Recent announcements out of Anbell Telecommunications Ltd.  Concerning product line expansions and the long advocated for islandwide single rate for dial-up internet calls, underscores the dynamic nature of this area of business and the need to continually exceed customer expectations in such an ultra competitive industry.  Anbell has always emphasized the importance of providing internet access to all Jamaicans at the most affordable rate.

Anbell Telecommunications is a member of the Anbell Group which includes Anbell Agencies Ltd., Anbell Media Ltd., and Anbell Foundation (non profit arm).  Anbell Telecommunications in November 2002 and since then has become a force to be reckoned with and has established themselves by offering a well supported, technically superior product at the lowest price among all players in the industry.

In keeping with the company's commitment to offer a full suite of telecom products, they now mark the introduction of two new services, NetSpeed, a High Speed ADSL Internet service, which will become operational in early October, and the upcoming High Speed Wireless service.  Anbell sees the introduction of these services as the next step in offering their valued subscribers the most reliable internet experience available today.

High Speed connectivity offers the internet user the ability to carry out online activities at speeds of up to 50 times that of Dial-Up facilities, and opens the door to a whole new suite of online activities which are not very well supported by dial-up.  These include access to multimedia services such as downloading large music and video files rapidly as well as access to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services which essentially provide international voice telephony at a fraction of the rates charged by existing telecom carriers.  Their VoIP service, NetVoice was introduced approximately 6 months ago and has been well received.

Along with NetSpeed ADSL service they will also be offering additional benefits to subscribers via the NetSpeeder rewards program.

The second of the two services being launched is a wireless internet service that will use the industry standard Wi-Fi protocol.  Wi-Fi enables high speed internet access on a variety of devices without the traditional cabled connection.  Initially this service will be offered in Kingston and shortly thereafter expanded to include other geographic areas.

Notwithstanding, Sandra Bodden-Reid, General Manager for the Anbell Group of Companies reiterated the importance of dial-up in the internet marketspace, "even with a high speed option, dial-up will always be an important part of the internet landscape".  It is for this reason that she welcomes the implementation of a Single National Rate in support of dial-up users - a change for which Anbell has long been an advocate.  All Anbell customers will now connect to their Dial-Up Internet service via the same 7 digit number and be charged at a single rate low rate of .60c per minute, irrespective of the time of day.

Perhaps the most significant implication of this change will be their ability to house their entire existing technical infrastructure in a single location at their New Kingston Corporate offices rather than parish based Points of Presence (POPs).  This will ensure that subscribers in all parishes will now benefit from the significant investment made at Anbell's Corporate Headquarters in redundant IT infrastructure and power supply facilities, supported by a strong team of technical support personnel.

There is no denying that this young fledging company is indeed on the move.
