Cable & Wireless Jamaica today announced the roll out of its "Anyone" bmobile plan that offers its customers a rate of $10 (peak) and $8 (off peak) per minute for calling to any mobile network in Jamaica whether Digicel, MiPhone or bmobile and also to Cable & Wireless, Fixed lines.
The new rate, which becomes effective tomorrow (Thursday September 29, 2005) is 45% lower than the nearest cross network charge. In making the announcement today, Rodney Davis, CWJ's President & CEO said that Cable & Wireless the "Anyone" plan has come "in response to feedback from CWJ's customers, partners and employees". "The recurring theme from the feedback is that there are too many barriers to communication and the biggest barrier is the cost. We took careful note of their concerns and today marks the beginning of our response to what they have been saying to us," the CWJ CEO said. Mr. Davis also said that, "Anyone" plan is available to literally "Anyone" who wants it-- Prepaid and Postpaid customers, Small and Medium Enterprises and large Corporate Clients. He added that the Company had already analysed the spend of its corporate customers and the findings clearly demonstrate that the "Anyone" plan would save them money. The CWJ President said that apart from the new rates the "Anyone" plan is also being accompanied by a "fantastic" handset trade-in offer which allows customers on other networks to trade in existing handsets and receive considerable savings on models of the latest cell phones. Addionally, he stated that the Company intended to support this new initiative by spending approximately $100 million in advertising and marketing. "We believe that we are doing the right thing for mobile customers, and we intend, as the saying goes, to put our money where our mouth is," Mr. Davis said. The CWJ CEO also said that in responding to further feedback from its customers, the Company had invested more than $3 billion in the upgrading and expansion of its mobile network over the past 18 months, adding 150 new cell sites and over 130 - 850mhz overlays. Additionally the Company will be investing another half billion dollars between now and the end of the current financial year. "We remain committed to having the best network in Jamaica and guaranteeing the highest quality service," Mr. Davis said. The CWJ President also indicated that the Company had strengthened its customer services capabilities and, in anticipation of the demand for the new plan, had trained a dedicated team of employees whose only focus will be to answer questions and provide information to customers on the "Anyone" plan. He concluded by saying that now mobile customers only needed "one plan and one phone". |
