UNOFFICIAL FIGURES indicate that unsolicited emails, or spam, make up the majority of the email traffic on the Web today. One research firm estimated that in 2002 alone, 870 billion spam emails were sent to North American email addresses. Similar figures or estimates for the Jamaican experience do not exist, but it's very likely that the spam bug has bitten just about anyone with an email account. |

Technologically, the Internet may seem like a pretty easy place to conquer. Some think it's as simple as setting up a web page with e-commerce, then kicking back as "hordes" of visitors to the site buy everything and anything that's available on it, making the owners multi-millionaires in no time. For a smart few, that scenario may actually exist, while for others, their online venture(s) may quickly fade to nothing, usually because they failed to identify and eliminate some of the factors that can cause the Internet to be a very difficult place strategically. |

An 'ADVISOR' at a Ministry proclaimed we had moved into the 'paperless' office. I was provoked to warn that to do so is to move into the 'workless' office when, not if, the computers crashed. |
